Georgia liability insurance is required from your insurance company. Additionally, leased vehicles require a power of attorney from the leasing company and a copy of the lease agreement.

If you do not have the title and we find there is a lien on the vehicle, you must provide the current registration and name and address of the lien holder. Out-of-state titles must be surrendered and transferred to Georgia titles (year models 1985 and older are not required to be titled in the state of Georgia).

If you are registering vehicles for a business in Fayette County, you must provide a current business license for first time registration. In order to register, residents must provide a Georgia driver’s license with their address in Fayette County. New residents must register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency in the state of Georgia. In order to minimize processing time, please present your tag renewal notice, previous registration receipt, or tag number and your Alabama driver license or non-driver ID.
To check the status of an internet renewal, please call (334) 262-4226. Information contained on the renewal notice is required for internet renewal. You must have liability insurance in order to register your vehicle. You may renew your boat registration by using any of the following options. View tag types and reserve your license plate with the Alabama Department of Revenue. Additional fees apply to personalized and specialty tags. Alabama offers many personalized and specialty tag options. Title is held by lienholder (financed):. Vehicle must be presented for inspection. Out of state registration (if available). Title is not held by lienholder or no lien on vehicle:. Vehicle is currently registered in your name in another state, the following documents are required: Vehicle must be presented for inspection if you have an out of State title. Registration information (if available.). Complete lienholder information (if applicable.). Vehicle purchased from an individual (private party): Lienholder information including loan account number (if applicable.). Vehicle must be presented for inspection. Original Manufacturers' Certificate of Origin (if vehicle is new) or original title (if vehicle is used) assigned to buyer. Vehicle purchased from a licensed dealer from another state, the following documents are required: Previous registration information (if available.). Itemized Bill of Sale (showing break down of sales tax collected.). Owner's copy of title application (from dealer.). Vehicle purchased from a licensed dealer in the State of Alabama, the following documents are required: Please also have proof of valid insurance and proper identification. Please call any of our offices if additional information (other than fee quotes) is needed. Fees are based on the value of the vehicle and cannot be quoted until paperwork is completed in our office.
